Installation of LVL timber construction in FTU named after S.M. Kirov

April 1, 2025

On March 28, the installation of a double-hinged frame construction made of Ultralam™ LVL timber at the St. Petersburg Forest Technical University named after S.M. Kirov was completed. The project is being supported by the Association of Wooden Housing Construction and the Department of Construction and Urban Planning of the University.

The main purpose of the double-hinged frame is to represent to students the material, its properties and capabilities. The height of the structure is 4 m, the span length is 8 m. The chosen length focuses on one of the main purposes of the LVL timber – the construction of large-span structures.

In the near future, the construction will be complemented by information posters, samples of LVL timber and printed materials of an introductory nature. We hope that this will contribute to the popularization of wooden house construction among students, broaden their horizons and strive to study modern building materials that have long been used abroad.
